History

1999 - METALLOINVEST’s shareholders acquire Oskol Elektrometallurgical Plant (OEMK) and Lebedinsky Mining and Processing Plant (Lebedinsky GOK).

2000 - The first facility for producing hot briquetted iron (HBI plant-1) begins operation at Lebedinsky GOK.

2002
- METALLOINVEST’s shareholders acquire 50% of the shares of Ural Steel.
- A new steel-rolling mill-350 begins operation at OEMK.

2004 - METALLOINVEST’s shareholders become owners of 100% of the Ural Steel shares and acquire 97% of the shares of Mikhailovsky GOK.

2005 - Construction of HBI plant-2 begins at Lebedinsky GOK.

2006 (April-December)
- Merger of the assets of JSC METALLOINVEST (Mikhailovsky GOK and Ural Steel) and Joint Stock Company Gazmetall (Lebedinsky GOK and OEMK).
- The Holding’s companies begin integration (sales, investment activities).
- All the assets are merged into the Holding.

2007
- HBI plant-2 starts production.
- METALLOINVEST applies long-term contracting standards both with foreign and Russian customers.

2008
- Joint Stock Company Gazmetall is renamed as Joint Stock Company «Holding Company «METALLOINVEST».
- Modernized Rolling mill 2,800 and Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) with the design capacity of 1 million tons of steel per year are put into operation.
- Construction of burning kiln No. 3 begins at Mikhailovsky GOK.
- Launch of construction works at Hamriyah Steel Plant (UAE).

2009
- Metalloinvest and Rosnedra signed the license agreement to develop Udokan copper deposit.
- Russian government committee approved a decision to render state support to Lebedinsky GOK, Mikhailovsky GOK, OEMK and Ural Steel.
- Metalloinvest and CHTPZ Group will work together at strategic infrastructure projects.
